Compress Image to 5KB: is this the right limit?
This preset starts the image compressor at 5KB. It is most useful when the website, application, or document portal accepting your image specifies that maximum. The result depends on the source image; a target is not a promise of identical quality or exact output size.
When this target makes sense
a tiny signature, simple mark, or low-detail image where a very small attachment is mandatory.
Practical advice for 5KB
Start with a tightly cropped source and keep only the area the recipient needs. At 5KB, a detailed photo is unlikely to remain clear; inspect small text and edges at normal viewing size before submitting it.
This is an especially strict ceiling. The compressor may need to reduce dimensions as well as image quality, and a result below 5KB is not necessarily suitable for a form that requires readable detail.
A reliable image-compression check
- Check the destination's maximum file size, accepted format, and required pixel dimensions.
- Upload up to three images (20MB maximum each), crop unused content if helpful, and keep the 5KB preset unless you need another limit.
- Compress and review the resulting image. Confirm its actual size and that important text, edges, and subject details remain clear.
- If it is still too large or no longer readable, try a more focused crop or a larger limit if the destination allows one.
Choose a different image size
Use the limit required by the receiving site. These presets change the starting target; the tool also lets you adjust it.
