Compress Image to 300KB: is this the right limit?

This preset starts the image compressor at 300KB. It is most useful when the website, application, or document portal accepting your image specifies that maximum. The result depends on the source image; a target is not a promise of identical quality or exact output size.

When this target makes sense

a general image upload where the site allows a few hundred kilobytes.

Practical advice for 300KB

Use this ceiling when a smaller upload is useful but a tiny thumbnail target would sacrifice too much detail. Review the output at the intended display size and keep a copy of the original.

Three hundred kilobytes gives many images more room, but it is still a maximum target rather than a promise of unchanged quality or dimensions.

A reliable image-compression check

  1. Check the destination's maximum file size, accepted format, and required pixel dimensions.
  2. Upload up to three images (20MB maximum each), crop unused content if helpful, and keep the 300KB preset unless you need another limit.
  3. Compress and review the resulting image. Confirm its actual size and that important text, edges, and subject details remain clear.
  4. If it is still too large or no longer readable, try a more focused crop or a larger limit if the destination allows one.

Choose a different image size

Use the limit required by the receiving site. These presets change the starting target; the tool also lets you adjust it.
