Split PDF files securely in your browser
This tool creates new PDF files from selected pages without converting pages into images. Text and vector content remain selectable in the exported PDFs.
Choose how to split your PDF
Select specific pages, enter page ranges such as 1-3, 5, 8-10, or divide a document into groups with a chosen number of pages per file. You can also split a document into two sequential parts or set a target file size for each output. A single page may exceed the size target.
More ways to organize pages
For PDFs with bookmarks, create a file for each top-level bookmarked section. You can also split where pages contain text you specify, with optional case-sensitive or whole-word matching. Text matching reads selectable PDF text; scanned pages need OCR and are not matched by this method.
If you need to divide the content on each page rather than separate pages, choose the page-cut option. It cuts every page vertically or horizontally at a position you choose.
Review and download the split files
The tool creates new PDFs from the selected page content, preserving selectable text and vector content instead of converting pages to images. Download generated files individually or together as a ZIP. Batch split applies the selected method to multiple PDFs.
Good to know
- Text matching reads selectable PDF text. Scanned pages need OCR before their text can be matched.
- Bookmark splitting uses top-level bookmarks only. Bookmarks that begin on the same page are combined into one output section.
- Splitting by size targets the size of each output. Shared fonts and images may be copied into multiple files, so the combined outputs can be larger than the original PDF.
- Page-cut outputs preserve text and vector content, but clickable link annotations are not preserved.
